Das anthroposophische Vokabular wird mit Selbstverständnis verwendet und größtenteils als bekannt vorausgesetzt. Dies erschwert erheblich, die beschriebenen Vorgehensweisen nachzuvollziehen.
Daraus ergibt sich die Zielsetzung dieses Buches, die „anthroposophische Kunsttherapie mit Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung“ auch „Nichtanthroposophen“ verständlicher und durchschaubarer zu machen.
Zum besseren Verständnis ist das vorliegende Buch in drei aufeinander aufbauende Stufen gegliedert.
Auf der ersten Stufe sollen die für die Kunsttherapie relevanten anthroposophischen Hintergründe und Begriffe, die auf den Geisteswissenschaften Rudolf Steiners beruhen, erklärt werden.
Auf der zweiten Stufe werden die Grundlagen der allgemeinen anthroposophischen Kunsttherapie für Kranke beschrieben, die wiederum die foundation für den Behandlungsansatz, der auf Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung abzielt, darstellt.
Auf der dritten Stufe wird das anthroposophische Verständnis von „Geistiger Behinderung“ geklärt. So kann der spezifische Behandlungsansatz der „anthroposophischen Kunsttherapie für Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung“ nachvollziehbar und verständlich dargestellt werden.
Zum Abschluss des Buches soll anhand von drei Fallbeispielen veranschaulicht werden, wie dieses Kunsttherapiekonzept mit Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung in der Praxis umgesetzt werden kann.
